When it comes to small business sustaining this planet, we don’t have all the answers, and we’re not perfect. However, we truly believe that it is not only important, but it's our RESPONSIBILITY to use our public platform and to make decisions that positively impact our planet and the resources it provides us. Supporting, and striving towards incorporating more sustainable practices is a core part of our business and is non-negotiable.
These are the ways we are committing to making an impact:
Plant StrongWe commit to having a plant heavy menu. Diets higher in animal protein are associated with specific health detriments and consume much more water and land resources than those of a plant based diet. Eating a balanced, plant heavy diet is better for our health and the health of our planet.
Sustainable SeafoodWe strive to serve only seafood species rated "Best Choice" or "Good Alternative" according to the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch® guidelines for commercial buyers which support sustainable fisheries and fishing practices around the globe. We have partnered with Seafood Watch® to fight overfishing and ocean degradation.
Reducing the Use of PlasticPlastics pose a significant threat to the environment. The breakdown of certain plastics lead to the release of toxic chemicals in our soil and oceans, as well as prior to decomposing, plastic poses a variety of risks to wildlife and ecosystems. Removing these lightweight and portable materials for to-go products in a grab and go world is complex, but we are trying to work with environmentally conscious partners and move towards the process of reducing disposable plastics from our business. Keeping awareness and open dialogues is part of the process.
No BeefThe beef industry uses the highest amount of water resources for its resulting output than any other protein source. It is also the food source that, by far, produces the highest amount of carbon dioxide emissions and greenhouse gases. We are actively working towards phasing out all beef from our menus by the end of 2017.
Reduce and ReUseWe believe in recycling and use recycled products wherever possible with the idea of reducing landfill waste and keeping plastics out of our oceans.
